Abstract

Collaborative stakeholder governance is the key to promoting the smooth and efficient implementation of urban village renovation projects, but the stakeholder relationships and interest demands at each phase of the renovation practice are intricate and complex. Taking a renovation project in Beichen District, Tianjin as a case study, this research employs social network analysis to systematically and comprehensively analyze the network characteristics and evolutionary patterns of stakeholder relationships and their demands across different phases of the project. The results indicate that the coordination of stakeholder interest demands is most difficult during the demolition and resettlement compensation phase; the roles and functions of the same stakeholder differ significantly at different phases of the project; and building a living environment that satisfies the public is the core interest demand of diverse stakeholders. By using social network analysis to dissect the key issues in coordinating stakeholder relationships and demands, this study provides a scientific reference and basis for the collaborative stakeholder governance of urban village renovation projects.
